General Information about the Jurisprudence Learning Exercise
NCGS 90-630.1(a) (4) and (b) (5) of the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy Practice Act states applicants must pass a jurisprudence examination administered by the Board regarding laws and rules adopted by the Board for licensure under this Article. The Board has developed a Jurisprudence Learning Exercise (JLE) for applicants to meet this requirement. To successfully complete the JLE you must answer all questions correctly. You may take the JLE at any time during the application process. There is no fee to take the JLE and you may take it more than once if you do not answer all questions correctly on your first try. To prepare for the JLE you need to read the Practice Act and Rules of the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy.

Points to Remember while taking the Exercise:
If you are applying for a license, you are required to score a 100% on the JLE. The JLE is thirty (30) multiple choice questions randomly pulled from a large bank of questions. Each therapist's JLE will be different. There is a link displayed with each question referring to the particular section of the Practice Act or Rules pertaining to that question. You are allowed to retake the JLE as many times as needed to score 100%. After completing the JLE, a review will be displayed showing which questions were correct and incorrect. Your correct answer will remain from JLE to JLE. When retaking the JLE you only need to change the answers to the questions you missed. To modify your answers, you must finish and quit the current JLE then log back on to restart the exam process.
Finishing and quitting the Jurisprudence Learning exercise:
If you need to quit the JLE before completing all the questions, just
click on the "Summary" button then click on "Finish the Exam" and follow
the prompts. This will ensure that any answers you have made will be
saved. Do not quit the JLE by closing your browser before
you have finished the JLE, use the process as
described above. Failure to do so will result in the loss of any answers
you have entered into the JLE. Once you have correctly quit the JLE, you
will be returned to the logon screen. Your browser can be closed safely
at this point. Only scores of 100% will be sent to the Board.
Good Luck
